چکیده

A multi-dimensional algorithm for surface extraction from a structured domain is presented. Topological information is used to split the n-cubes into simplices which are used to extract the possible configurations of new surface elements. The algorithm is intended to complement to the existing surface extraction algorithms, which are specialized to deal with a set dimension, while this algorithm will adapt to any chosen dimension.

Generating Surface Geometry in Higher Dimensions using Local Cell Tilers

In two dimensions contour elements surround two dimensional objects, in three dimensions surfaces surround three dimensional objects and in four dimensions hypersurfaces surround hyperobjects. These surfaces can be represented by a collection of connected simplices, hence, continuous n dimensional surfaces can be represented by a lattice of connected n 1 dimensional simplices. The lattice of co...

Image-based Unstructured 3d Mesh Generation for Medical Applications

We present a dimension-independent algorithm for non-uniform meshing of voxel geometries, e.g. stemming from segmented medical images. The basic algorithms uses spacetrees (generalized octrees for arbitrary dimension) to build a hierarchical representation of the image information. The resolution of the spacetree can depend on several parameters, such as homogeneity of the material, or applicat...

Using Isosurface Methods for Visualizing Solids defined by Multivariate Functions

We present a method for calculating the envelope surface of a parametric solid object swept along a path in three-dimensional space. The boundary surface of the solid is the combination of parametric surfaces and an implicit surface where the Jacobian of the defining function has a rank-deficiency condition. Using the rank deficiency condition, we determine a set of square sub-Jacobian determin...

Using Isosurface Methods for Visualizing the Envelope of a Swept Trivariate Solid

We present a method for calculating the envelope surface of a parametric solid object swept along a path in threedimensional space. The boundary surface of the solid is the combination of parametric surfaces and an implicit surface where the Jacobian of the defining function has a rankdeficiency condition. Using this condition, we determine a set of square sub-Jacobian determinants that must al...

Interval Simplex Splines for Scientific Databases

Modern technology has enabled the scientific community to collect vast amounts of physical data. These data are often sampled at unstructured spatial locations because of physical constraints, and measured with uncertainty because of measurement technique errors. However, most existing data representation and visualization methods apply only to gridded or regular data and ignore the uncertainty...
